Give me some ideas.
Give me some ideas.
OK let's get some ideas coming. Sounds like the zz4 block I mentioned earlier would be great for a gen2 camaro? Since it has already been clearanced for a 383, give me some ideas? My first real car was a 76 camaro, wouldn't mind finding one to restore. So say I had 5000.00 to work with what would you do?
Re: Give me some ideas.
What's the big deal about a ZZ4 block?? You can have almost the same starting point with any Gen I block, and they are so plentiful I could probably s*** one out if I tried hard enough.
I'd take that $5000 and build up a nice motor to put in your current car. I'm sure there are people who would argue with me till death about this, but it just seems like a boosted stock motor LT1 is going to fail sooner than later.........

Re: Give me some ideas.
The only deal is that I can get the block for 200.00 with a stand included. My main question was it the same block that an LT1 was built on. I was hoping that it was and I could build a 383 while my car was still running. No such luck.
Re: Give me some ideas.
I got my block for $150 when I needed a replacement- LT1 block. There's no black magic to clearancing it for a 383, just takes a little know how, a die grinder and about 30 minutes. After that it's up to you to pick rods that won't interfere with the cam.
Re: Give me some ideas.
I agree with FastZ, build your current block for the boost. Your ring lands are gonna get pounded eventually. Then when you get a little more money, slang the powerdyne, and get a vortec or procharger, and crank up the boost a bit.
