Hey all,

My car has been running fine. All of a sudden I go to start it up and it won't. Here are the details:

put positive onto battery terminal and interior light go on. Everything is normal.

Put key on "run" and all electrical systems work.

Put key on "start" and everything goes dead.

Pull and put back postive battery terminal and everything is fine until I put key into "start" position and then again everything dead.

This is an RX7 with the LT1 but the basics are still relevant. I checked for breaks in my brand new battery cable (that worked before) and nothing visual.

I am thinking starter solenoid short or another short somewhere else.

Any ideas on where to look would be appreciated.

Kind of sounds like a bad connection at the battery or possibly a broken connection inside the battery. Try a different battery or jump starting it.

Your idea is what I needed. Confirmed it was the battery and got a new one that works perfectly.
