Girdle For the Rear? Going with Et Streets!

Since I am going with Et Streets I figure that I should spend the extra $150 and get a girdle as well as extra insurance. Think it would be worthwile?

well...yeah it might help some, but probably not enough to keep your rear end together if you get good traction having an A4 definitely helps though...I would say its probably a crap shoot either way

I think it's helped hold my rear together so far. That along with a bearing stud kit and a solid pinion spacer are a good way to help beef up the 10 bolt. If I ran ET streets at the track with the M6 though I think my rear would be dead by now, I wont run them until I get a 12 bolt. A little slippage with the BFG dr's is better than a broken rear for me right now

What is the point of a solid spacer and how much does it cost? How about the install?

I THINK the solid spacer keeps the pinion from "walking" up the ring gear..(keeps it in place) and they usually cost under $20...

The solid spacer replaces the crush sleeve. When you drop big power on launch, the crush sleeve can compress and crush more....which ends up opening up your backspacing on the gears. the solid spacer eliminates this, but to keep your pinion nut from backing off you'll have to have the nut brazed on.

Its harder to break the rearend with the A4 because when you brake torque a bit it preloads the rearend. You can't do that with manual.

I ran ET streets for 3 months last year. No problems.

Me too. I ran ET streets all season last year on the stock 3.23's, 2800 Vig converter that flashes to 3000 behind my 362hp on the way to 1.72 60fts....rear is still quiet like when it was stock.

I am planning on a rear girdle too though....I think for the price it just makes sense and I'd rather spend some money now preserving the 10 bolt than blow $2300 on a 12 bolt setup. You can rebuild the 10-bolt 5-7 times for that price.
