Getting ready for 383-help me pick a rotating ass.

And if i did it wouldnt be more than 100shot, regardless of internals.
Would you suggest me emailing AD and telling them I want a 383 stroker kit for a lt1? What details would I need to give?
Thanks for all the helpfull replies!

My power goals are around 450hp/450tq (tq being more important) N/A, maybe in the future going to FI or nitrous but not anytime soon.
Would running ARP studs on the stock 2bolt and eagle cast crank+forged pistons/rods be a good setup for what iam wanting to do?
Anyway to save a few bucks is deffenitly a good thing. How high RPM is the LE3 setup good for? I dont want to shift too early to save the motor if its still making power.
Sorry for all the dumb questions, like i said, never done anything like this before and wasnt planning on doing it this soon.
Thanks for all your help!

Ya need to figure your DCR to set your static to get 8.5-9.0 DCR and that is cam dependent. Ya can run 13/1 and with a big cam the DCR will be 9.0/9.1 which will run on pump gas with GOOD cooling.
Ya need to do a lot more research before buying a lot of parts ya won't be happy with 'cause they don't make power.
I wouldn't run hyper-u-crap-tic pistons in a lawn mower. Ya will be better off with forged pistons, forged rods and a cast crank. The mains are iffy but will work till they walk the caps loose.
If its built right ya won't have to turn it over 6800 at the shift point. It will make peak power at 6400 and peak TQ at 54/5500. There is no sense in going much higher 'cause your fuel tables in the computer run out at 7200.

I like that , Don't do like me and think that you won't need forged pistons, I kick myself everyday for not spending 200$ more and getting forged pistons.

I dont want to be pushing the limits of pump gas or anything, i just want it to run on pump 92/93 relatively safely. So could someone let me know what pistons to get to reach whatever the most popular compression ratio seems to be amongst everyone with le3 heads/cam?
97WS6NY-I would deffenitly go with a VRE shortblock if I had the $$

8.5 is not pushing the limits. 9.0 is. If ya know what your cam spects are I will figure it for ya. Guessing ain't gonna work. Are ya going to deck the block? What head gasket? What length rod? What bore size? What width rings? What combustion chamber size? What cam? How deep of valve relief's? What size valves? It isn't as easy as going to the store and picking up an 8 pack of pistons and somebody else's set up may not work for you. Ya have to know these things beforehand.
Seeings Bret(SStrokerAce) makes cams for LE he would probably figure it for ya if ya ask him.
I will recommend Probe Industries for the pistons. They have some nice forged sets for the money. If ya need help with getting them from Probe PM me and I will see what I can do.

Re: Getting ready for 383-help me pick a rotating ***.
I just spent about an hour looking for all the answers to your questions and by the time I clicked submit reply it signed me off. Signed back on and it said invalid thread.
In short, i dunno wtf iam doing. Was under the impression I just tell whoever iam getting the rotating assy. from what im doing and they'll have kits already picked out.
The block is being bored .30 over and clearenced for stroke that is all for now.
I dunno what width rings, whatever comes with the rotating assy.
What head gasket? Can i just buy a kit with all the gaskets in it already? Stock sizes preferably so it doesnt interfere anything else.
What length rod? Whats the difference between 5.7 and 6.0? Why would someone choose one over the other?
Have no idea how deep valve reliefs will be.
What combustion chamber size? Whatever an lt1 head has. Unless it changes once its ported. Like i said, i dunno wtf iam doing. Thought i did, but apparently not
What cam? Whatever the le3 cam is. Supposed to be simular to gm847 right?
2.05/1.60 valves. <taken from le3 part of Lloyds site
Iam trying to figure all this out ASAP because the car is still where i work (garage) sitting out back and i dont think its a good idea for it to be left there for a long time. Neither does the boss man for that matter
