getting my 383. what's needed?
Re: getting my 383. what's needed?
If you are on a budget build something like this http://www.ellweinengines.com/Ellwei...Kit/355Kit.htm.
Re: getting my 383. what's needed?
Got some more information written down.
Federal mogal (hyper I believe) pistons, coated.
hastings rings.
New scat crank
Pioneer lifters
Felpro gaskets
Sealed power valves
Melling double roller timing chain
Clevite 77 bearings.
Just some things he wrote down for me.
Now, my secret on pricing....
Engine authority is motorworks too. Same engines from autozone, same place I manage, same place a co owner works....see why its so cheap for me?

Go fur it dood! Autozone makes **** everything, but I'm sure their crate motors are real pantie-droppas! Especially with those secret squirrel prices you're getting.

Seeing that listed makes me believe the pricing isn't for an LT1, maybe a 70 LT-1

Re: getting my 383. what's needed?
I'm giving them my complete engine. Heads tb all the way to the oil pan and valve covers. They rebuilding it all, giving me different chrome valve covers new pan etc. Since I hear all these bad things I will be having a sit down with tom and his kid for a complete part number run down. This isn't happening until Feb. I haveanother camaro with the 95 lt1 extra, but 4 hours away in the other camaro.

It looks like the OP had already reached a decision when he first posted and was really looking for validation which didn't happen. As to the exact question originally asked...everything removed has to go back on the replacement engine. You'll only really need bigger injectors and a tune. Even your stock exhaust it'll bolt right on. It's not a good decision but certainly in keeping with those already taken....

So they want to give you new valves for no reason, new oilpan for no reason, new valvecovers that will likely interfere with the alternator for no reason.
Far as those of us who know what we are talking about see you just keep making this look WORSE.
Re: getting my 383. what's needed?
Well id stay away if i were you just as everyone else had mentioned. I just had a 355 built and a friend of mine who runs his own machine shop did all the work and parts pricing for me. And even with "friends discount" on parts and labor still ran me around $2000 for lower end alone and that was with me helping. But i will be able to sleep at night and know i can turn the key with no worries..... My take on it is do it once and right. And FYI most companies you call give you a standard 350 or sbc kit. I had to piece mine together because i could not get a "lt1 rebuild kit"... someone correct me if im wrong. But good luck
