Tow it the 1/4 mile with a Heads/Cam LS1 car.

First learn to drive the stick flawlessly, then cut a good 60 foot time and if the car is healthy it should run a high 13 low 14 stock. A cold air induction like the Moroso, K&N, or SLP, a good 3 inch cat-back exhaust system, and a tuned ECM with a 160 deg thermostat will put you solid in the 13s.

A set of sticky rear tires will help you keep your short times good.

Cam and head cars with full headers, off road or highflow cats, and rear gears run 12s pretty easily with the sticky tires. Cam only with the rest and high 12s are pretty easy.

Also, some suspension work and good tires will help you achieve the times you want. Get a set of tubular rear lower control arms with polyurethane bushings and some good tires.

All bolt ons, sticky tires, and good driving ability should put an M6 LT1 in the high 12s.

With below mods, DRs and a good driver (not me). Mine ran a 12.97 @105 last spring.

You only need to make about 320 rwhp to get into the 11's. It's all about the launch.

An LT1 will run 12s with nothing more than a full exhaust, tires and tuning. Seen it done locally more than once. Remember, the first 60 feet of a 1/4 mile run are the most important 60 feet. After that just hit your shifts and you're home free.

**** take a bone stock LT1, put a set of DRs on it and it's an easy mid 13 sec car. Just have to learn to drive them!

My old '94 A4 ran 13.9@101 bone stock except for a catback. That was with a 2.2 60 foot!! With a set of tires and a nice 1.8 60 she would have easily gone 13.5.

if you want to run 11's its very possible but it depends on if you want to drive the car everyday or not..... look at chrism's mods, granted thats a very streetable cam (i have the same one) he also has a 3800 stahl and4.56 gears. i dont know how streetable that is, but it just goes to show that motor isnt all that makes a car fast. i have seen heads/cam ls1's run 11's and be alot more streetable than an LT1 that is able to run 11's. just my $.02

A healthy good running LT1 auto car will run 13.5-14 on a good track. Throw full bolt ons, stall, and get in with some 1.6 or even 1.7 roller rockers.... welcome to the nice side of the 12s.

For the most part people mean:

Full exhaust (including headers)
Converter if A4
Cold air
water pump
pullies (only one good pulley for the LT1, that's the ASP replacement crank pulley)
mailorder PCM
and most people include roller rockers as a bolt on
