Getting Hot

As I wrote on a previous post my 94Z seems to be running a little hot. I watched the cooling fans while I let the car idle for a while and neither of the fans came on and the temp gauge was nearing the redline. I had everything checked out once again at a local shop and they said the fans are operating just fine. I don't remember the exact temperatures but it seems the mechanic told me that the low speed came on at 225 degrees and the high speed at 240 degrees. They did notice that when the engine temp reached 225 degrees that the gauge on the dash was near the redline. Obviously my gauge is not accurate but I still don't feel good about letting the engine get that hot. Someone had mentioned to me that you can buy a chip to change what temperature the fans are activated at. Where can I get this chip and how much will it cost?

Since your car is a 94 you will not have a chip. I would recommend contacting PCMforless. It sounds to me like your fans are not coming on. I would check to see if the fan fuse is good. The fan fuses are under the hood. Also there is a sensor on your waterpump that tells the computer when to run the second fan. Make sure that sensor is good. The temp reading on your car is based of the coolant sensor located on your drivers side head.
