Is getting an ex Police Interceptor worth it?

I've been looking at buying an ex Police Interceptor z28. Can anyone tell me about what makes them special? what should I look for? Anything negative ( other then probably being flogged within an inch of it's life)?

thanks!

i believe they come with a higher amp alternator for all of the radois and such. and i think they also have a some what beefed up suspension.

but the maintenance is usually pretty good so if its a good price for the miles go for it.

There is probably a few extra wires laying around inside the dash that were once used for something. The B4C police cars were basically just debadged Z28s.

I bet the x-po cars were driving alot harder though. The LS1 around here is in pretty rough shape and I seen one forsale in the local paper last year (96 Z28 M6) for $6000 CND. Something to think about.

They may have been run hard once a month (B4Cs are only intercpeters in most departments) but they are VERY well mainteained.

If the department that used it has a good budget and a good maintainence program, then it's a good bet. Even with the hard driving, the regualr maintainence makes for a good used car.

If it belonged to a department that doesn't take care of it's equipment though....
