get computer scanned?
ive recently had my SES light come on a few times while driving and figured i should go have my computer scanned for any codes...are there any good places to go for that? i thought autozone did it but i just called them and they said no. thanks for any help.
If you have a laptop, just invest in a cable, I use a www.wotelectroincs.com and do it yourself. There is also www.akmcables.com You can use Freescan or Datamaster for cheap. Will get you alot more than just the codes, also a useful tool to have.

Unfortunately your 94 requires a scanner to get the codes.
94 and 95 are OBD1 but the 95 has an OBD2 connector, both cars require a scanner that autozone does not have with thier free scanning equipment. They can do OBD2 with a little handheld scanner but not OBD1 94s and 95s.
I invested in a scanner pretty much cause I had too.
You can take it too a shop but it aint cheap, usually around 50 bucks just to hook up thier scanner.
See if you can find someone in your area that has a scanner and will let you borrow it or bring it over and let u use it.
It is a pain with the 94 and 95 cars so really if your going to do alot of your own work on the car invest in a scanner, Autozone sells an Actron scanner for about 120 bucks and a GM cartridge for like 84 or so to 95 for another 60 bucks. 180 and you have a scanner that will come in REAL handy over the course of your ownership.
You might be able to find a cheaper code reader scanner that will just let you pull trouble codes but I have never seen one for 94 and 95s.

Like I said in my first post, if you have access to a laptop, or can ever relocate your desktop temporaily in the garage or close to the car, get a cable, cost anyhwere from $45-$95. The cheap one you have to put toghter, the more expensive ones are assembled and just plug and play. You can use Freescan, Datamaster, or if you want to do tuning, LT1_Edit. Just do a search for these three and you find more info. There is also a Computer/Tuning forum here for more help.
I see you're in San Diego area...if you're near Vista, or want to drive here (about 35 minutes north of downtown SD), I can scan it for you. Send me an email to blownf1@aol.com if interested.
