Generic exhaust...

This isn't related to LT1 specific but I figure it is technical question. On my 94 GT it has 4 catalytic converters... is it safe to just remove the mufflers and have the converters ? I personally have seen it done and it sounds pretty good but I never knew if there are reprocussions. I think it wouldn't hurt anything but a little torque.

i have a friend with a mustang that did the same thing, sounds better than stock but nowhere near as good as with some good mufflers, my opinion, get some good mufflers and ditch two of the cats

Yeah you can do it but it is sort of pointless imo. You would still be running the stock pipeing on it. Get a good catback system on that thing. If you just want sound then get some good mufflers.

Why do you have 4 cats? On a 94' you should only have one. Id ditch all of the cats and get a good muffler, or if you have emissions, just keep one cat.

my friend has a 1995 GT and he has flowmaster cat-back on it, and then went to an offroad h-pipe and the car sounds so much louder and meaner now, even with the flows.

he's gettin a complete MAC setup soon, which sounds worlds better over the flows, but the restriction of the 4 cats is your real enemy

take care of THAT

94-95 have 4 cats... I believe 96-200* have a couple more.. but I am 100% positive on my style.
