gen 1 in 4th gen
gen 1 in 4th gen
i know ive seen this discussed b/fore but cant find anything in search but arer the motor mnts on a gen 1 the same as a lt1 as my lt block is bad so i have a old school block ill build instead ...also if anyone can give a link to any sites or info on this would be helpfull thanks.......
Just to make sure we're clear... you want to put a first-generation SBC in your '93 Camaro?
AFAIK the motor mounts are in the same location.
How much does an LT1 block cost? It can't be that bad. Have you considered selling your GenI block and using the money to buy an LT1 block? That would save you some trouble. For instance, you wouldn't have to buy a low-pressure fuel pump, carb, distributor, etc.

the motor mounts are slighlty diff. I believe on the pass. side. when I did this swap for someone, we used a BMR kmember and had to chose sbc motor mount option instead of the LT1 mounts. so something has to be different. but its a bolt in deal with a tubular kmember anyways.
jake, the reason could be, as Im doin the opposit swap (LT1 into my 86Iroc), that he already has a built engine and why try to sell that and possibly lose money on it just to rebuild another motor? and if he wants to go carb anyways for simplicity's sake, then there's some modifying to do to an LT1 to do that. and I think LT stuff is still more expensive then SBC stuff on top of that.

the motor mounts are in a different location, you can use it, but only 2 bolts per side will be used. I cant remember exactly which way they are, but the mounts on the block will be set farther back or forward. one of the two. you will also need a few other things, such as ignition, and accesories.
