Gears or torque converter?

Gears or torque converter?
I had always planned to get a torque converter for my LT1 (whenever I bought it). What I never counted on was that "perfect" LT1 I found to have only 2.73 gears. That's all well and fine, but I've done the research and it seems the only thing I can do to keep my 2 series carrier is to get Strange gears.
My query is this: should I just forget about the gears, and go straight for the torque converter? I want a 2800 stall, and I think I want a Midwest. Think that's a good idea, even with those highway gears?
I'll have some baseline runs in after Friday.

i too vote for the TC. it will be easier on your rear than getting gears. also, Richmond makes gears for a series 2
i would get a bigger TC than 2,4-2,8k though. everyone ive talked to that started out with a smaller one and switched to a bigger one, wished they had gotten the bigger one first. i would go with at least a 3k. if i get one it will be a 3,5k.
