Voltage Regulator Replacement
Voltage Regulator Replacement
All,
Based on intermittent output during the bench-top test I believe my voltage regulator needs to be replaced. The alternator sat for 3 years in an "in-progress" project car without being used. However, it only has 40,000 miles on it. The bearings seem fine, but I never get ANY alternator output that I can measure when the car is running.
I took apart the alternator case and removed the voltage regulator. The new voltage regulator that I have has two metal studs. The old regulator has crimped/soldered metal connections to these studs. I can't seem to remove the connections from the old regulator. The crimping/soldering holds it too tight to remove, even with heat. Any ideas?
thanks,
simon
