I am looking to buy a tc for my next mod. Most likly I'll go with a 3000 stall but Im not sure if gears are needed first. My stock gears are 3.23s. Thanks.

 

Those gears will work fine with a stall, i went with a 3000 stall and 3.23 gears in my 97z and liked it a lot. If you had 2.73s then i'd say upgrade first but i wouldn't even worry about gears if you have the 3.23s

 

I put in a 2800 stall with my stock 3.23's and it was fine. I wouldn't recommend different gears at this point.

 

I agree with them. 3.23's will work fine.

 

I run a Vigi 3200 with my stock 3.23s, car runs fine. If you want gears, 3.73s would be good, you have long tubes already right? Long tubes, stall and some 3.73s will make that car real fun to drive

I had a 2800 Edge and 2.93s in my Caprice with 27" tall tires and it drove great. A lighter f-body with better gears and smaller tires(plays into final gearing) will be just fine. It did amazing things for my 1/4mile times but this chassis tends to hook better so yours might take some more finess to launch you will like it though.

 

I went with a 3000 tci stall and 3.73 gears . did them almost at the same time so I could have them both tuned
