have a 6 speed. so i have stock 3:42 gears..
not sure if 3:42 - 3:73 would be big enough of a jump for me, but 4:10's might be too much.

here's the situation, have a forged head / cammed lt1
spec stage 3 clutch, launching on et streets has only yielded me a 1.9 60 ft. and i think its my gears that are killing me.
i need to be pullling 1.6's

anyone make gears on ratios around 3:90's or so?
also, 4:10's trapping 115 mph, i wouldn't be in 5th gear would I?

If you swap to a different rear end, you can get 3.90s. Most people with 6 speeds don't think 4.10s are too much.

 

i got the 4:11's in mine, not bad at all on the street, thanks to 6th gear.
But i wouldnt reccomend the 4:10's for you because your running a spec 3 with drag radials....
In other words, thats a recipe for destruction for a 10 bolt with 4:10's

 

Yeah I def don't think it would last that long on DR's, and 4.10's. However I think that would be the gear for you. What are your shift points? With a 4.10's, a 26" tire, in 4 th gear you would be going about 130mph @7000RPM's, and 113-115 @ 6000 RPM's. With a taller tire say 28", you would be at about 142@7000, and 122@6000. If you had a different rear, I would actually think that 4.30's would be more ideal with the LE2 kit. I don't think the 10 bolt would hold with any gears too long if you are pulling 1.6 60ft times anyways.

 

thanks for all the input. i'm really thinking about putting a moser in there. thats what i've wanted to do all along. just need the cash.
sounds like 4:10s are a good choice for me.
shift points are high 6 but below 7K
