They make aftermarket LCAs? What do they have to do with hooking up?

If I had a basically stock car with 2.73's, I would go to 3.42's. If the car has 3.23's, keep them. Just from my experience with the cars. Let the mid range of LT1's work for you...just don't pass it right up with gearing.

Stock geared cars with a good suspension can hook well and run better than they are given credit.

You put a gear in a car without the suspension parts to plant the power...you have a slower car.

go ahead with the 373s. They are not much different than 342s but are a world of difference over 273s. I am debating on bumping up to 410s cuz the car is not quick enough for me. But 373s are THE gear to have for an automatic.

You know how much I gained from 3.23's to 3.73's...nothing.

What most people do is they do a gear swap and then put some dr's on the car...then they gain a good couple of tenths...but what helped...the gear or the dr's?

You take a good running stock geared car, do the suspension, put some dr's on the car and you would be surprised how well it can run.

Most people say 3.73's are the way to go because they have seen it here...and have no experiece though.

dude guy said he has 2.73s! Going from that to 3.73s will feel like a completely Different car! Just drag radials wont make that much difference for him right now because the car probably doesnt spin very much at all. He will need drag radials or et streets with those 3.73s though.

Since I already have 3.23s I shouldn't even bother with 3.42s. Just upgrade my suspension?

For what its worth i know that 4:56's are too much even for a M6. There was a guy I knew here went from 3:23's to 4:56 and it was way too much gear. He crossed the quarter mile well into 5th gear.

My vote=3.73s

I've got 3.23s, so I don't feel the need to swap anyway, since I don't have enough traction. At the very least you should get 3.42s, either one should make your car feel a lot better taking off.

I went with 3.42 from 2.73's and i love them. I know the guys on here say you will regret not getting 3.73's but thats not the case here. My Rpms are already high enough on the highway as is, plus with my loud cat back i really dont need the extra few hundred RPMS, let alone traction is already shot, i dont need more traction problems. Remember gears wont do anything without traction. Gears are primarily helpful in first and second gear, after that their benefit trails off. Choose wisely.

I know Darkhorse has 3.42's and it worked out for him. A good stall with a stock gear can run pretty well. When I first got into racing my Z28, I knew squat(of course I thought I knew it all), but I was running full weight, in fact heavy due to KBDD, ran with a 2800 stall with 3.23's, weak *** motor...12.20@108.69 MPH with a 1.68 60'.

I went from 2.73's to 3.73's last month, and its like driving a different car. I haven't been able to make it to the track yet, but for all around driving, I love them, and I drive about 3,000 miles a month. Either choice will give you a night and day difference over 2.73's, but I figured if I'm gonna do gears, I might as well go for 3.73's instead of 3.42's and wondering if I could have gotten more out of the 3.73's.

How many R's do you pull on the freeway with 3.73's in an auto?

I went from 2.73 to 3.73 and love the difference! it does feel like a completely different car. but I have to admit that I would like my revs a little lower on the Highway, so if I were to do it again I think I would have to say 3.42's would be a better all around gear.

hope this helps you make your choice.

Doing about 75-80 MPH I am turning between 2700 and 3000 RPMS's.
