GEARS: 2.73 to 3.42 tech help needed

1994 Camaro Z28, A4, 2.73 stock rear, ABS, no TCS, 108k miles, no real mods just CAI and !MAF screen

What exactly is involved in going to 3.42 gears in this car from the stock 2.73s?

What does it cost?

Where should I buy the parts? Which parts can be reused?
What happens if I do not reprogram computer to accommodate the gear change?

Most all of them. I had 2.73's, then I got Strange Gears 3.73's for a 2 series carrier. So I paid for the gears and thats it, and I had a shop install them. 2.73-3.08 gears have a 2 series carrier, 3.23 and up have a 3 series carrier. So if you got regular 3 series carrier gears, you'd have to get a new carrier, which is a lot more money.

Here's what you need: 23-875342-X Strange Pro-Street Gears, 3.42 Gear Ratio, 2 series carrier, GM 7.5" 10 bolt rear end
$225.00

Your speedo and odometer will be waaaaay off. Causing you to rack up milage way faster, and your speedo will say your going 100, instead of 60. Get programming from Bryan from www.pcmforless.com He did mine, it was cheap, and he does damn good work.

Same as above + if you don't reprogram the computer the tranny will not shift right because it shifts by MPH which will be off with the new gears.

You might want to spring for an "install kit" that replaces your carrier and pinion bearings. It is a good idea to do that while you are in there. Count on around another $100 for that.
