gears

ok so this is a stupid question i know. is there an easy way to tell if you have 2.73's or 3.32's. i hear them compared all the time and i wanna know what i have in my car.

If it's stock, you can check the glove box for the codes. GU2= 2.73:1 GU5= 3.23:1. Also if you have a selectable 1st gear on the console you have 3.23.

thanks. now what are advantages or disadvantages to each. ive never had a good grasp on this so i am trying to figure it out.

What do you mean a selectable 1st gear??? Like OD, D and 1 and 2 on the shift console??? Cause i know that i have 2.73s just by how the rpm's are when i drive.

Yes if you have a 1 on the shift cosole you had 3.23 from the factory.

so what is the main difference between the two sets. i have the 2.73s. whould a stall converter be a good investment? or should i get something else? like i said i never understood gears all that well.
