Gear swap effect on shifts?

Hi everyone im new to modifing computer controlled cars and had a question about my 95 z28 A4. I just recently swapped the stock 2.73's out for 3.73 rear gears and my speedo now indicates around 80 mph for 55. I took this to the track without flashin the computer for the gear swap and the tranny shifted terrible, it bumped the rev limiter shifting from 1 to 2 (shifter lever left in overdrive) and then short shifted into overdrive so i crossed the line at around 4800 rpms. My question is could the speedo being off have some effect on the tranny shift points? The car has OBD 1 if it matters.
Thanks Jason

Re: Gear swap effect on shifts?

The shifts are speed dependent. The computer cannot shift at the correct actual speed because it is now off because of the gears. You need a reprogram.

Thank you, it goes in for a dyno tune in two weeks. Shifting off and all it was still running 13.50s on a muggy day in upstate ny.
