gear question

would driving on either 3.42's or 3.73's for long periods of time (about 250 miles nonstop) hurt my car. if so in what ways. would it also affect my speedometer. even with the HPP3

You lost me on that one... stock LT1 M6's run forever on 3.42's. Numerous people run 3.73's and 4.10's. Why do you feel it would be a problem on your car? If you have an HPP, you can correct the speedo. Are you switching from 2.73's, and perhaps concerned about shift point issues without correcting for the higher numerical gears?

Gears are going to effect 2 things: gas mileage and performance. Changing gears and not upsating the PCM would effect your car. Getting gears and using Hyperjunk to update the PCM will make things A-ok.

i thought that because the rpm's would be higher driving at around 80 or so it would affect my engine or tranny after sometime. what rpms will i probably be at driving 70- 90.

3.73's will cause you to run at a higher RPM while at crusing speeds; thus knocking a few MPG off your car. Other then that it's all good.

my third gen has 3:73's and an A4, at 80, the RPM is 2700-2800, this is also dependant on tire size, I am running 255/45/16
