Gear installer said Motive 3.73s were too big?

Hey,
Just as the post says. I went to have my 3.73 gears installed. I dropped the car off and called back in 2 hours. I was then told that the 3.73 gears were too big. He said that I had a 7 5/8 rear. I told him to install the stockers back in until I could get to the bottom of things.
The gears are Motive gears ordered from a reputable paying sponser of this board.
I could not go to the shop and inspect with my own eyes because I was at work. Anyone else run into this problem?

Tim

right carrier size?

did you get the right carrier size 2 or 3?
if your car came with a 2.73 geras then you a series 2 carrier for
3.73 gerars

as far as i know motive or richmond don't offer a series 2 carrier
for a 3.73, you'll have to buy a strange set-up from
thunderracing.com

Hey,
I supposedlly bought 3.73s for a 3 series carrier. Before I got off the phone, all of my car's info was repeated back to me and I felt like we all were on the same page.
We are all human and we all make mistakes. So maybe a honest mistake was made during the shipping process.

Thanks

Tim

Ok,
Now I have a problem.
The Motive gears and my stock 3.42 gears are not the same size.
The Motives are bigger and about 2 1/2 taller when stood up side by side.
My invoice came today (ordered 2 items at same time) and it says that I have the right parts.
Here is the tricky part. The part numbers on the Motive BOX don't match up anywhere on the invoice.
I have part number R10RMKT on the install complete install kit.
I have part number 26037712 on the box the 3.73s came in (both of these part numbers came off of the box itself).
I called SLP and was told I didn't need a paddle kit to install the 3.73s. (I have the zexal torsen). My biggest fear is proceeding with installation and tear something up in the process.
I need advice asap.
I'm about to tell them to put the stockers back in and call it a day.

From whom did you get the gears? If they are the wrong gears, I don't understand why you are having difficulty in getting things ironed out. If the vendor screwed up in the order they would probably get it right over night.

You 96 probably does have the 7.625 rear. Shouldn't have a problem. JMHO

BUBBA...You are absolutely correct. I was sent the wrong gear by mistake. The 3.73 rear that I had was for a 12 bolt rear.
I will get the correct gears sent overnight to me.
Man, I've had so many setbacks that sometimes I get paranoid over the smallest simplest thing.

Thanks to everyone who posted,

Tim

Hey: Paranoia is quite normal when everybody is out to get you.
