Gear Drive

Does anyone have, or know someone who has a pete jackson gear drive or any gear drive on their Lt1. Do they sound good? Reliable?

Re: Gear Drive

Can't use a GD with a knock sensor. So unless you plan to disable the KS, forget it. Also, you would need an electric WP.

Re: Gear Drive

Here's a link to a guy who did the PJ gear drive, and ripped it out because he (and his knock sensor) couldn't stand the noise.

http://www.dw-zone.com/

Go to "My 94 Firebird Formula", scroll down to 1999 for the PJ install, then to 2000 for the fact he removed it.

Re: Gear Drive

I heard one at a car show the other day, and thought it sounded pretty neat.I was just wondering. Seems to just cause problems from what im hearing about it

Re: Gear Drive

Besides that they seem to not be as reliable as a good old chain, a freind lost a motor to one with fairly low milage on it.

Re: Gear Drive

To me its sort of pointless to install a part because of the way it sounds. People are reliably running huge HP solid roller motors with the LT4 Extreme Duty set, or the Cloyes double roller.
