gear brands question...

are GM MOTIVE gears the same as going to a Chevrolet Dealership and ordering gears? Dont know if that makes sense, but i'm just curious. I've heard people say that GM gears are the best and most quiet...but i had a set of GM Motives in my '93 Z and they were a little noisy. Just curious if when people talk about GM Motives, if they are the same as gears you'd buy from a dealership....

There are GM gears, GM gears pkg'd by Motive, and Motive gears.

Since you mentioned you had GM Motive, it sounds as though you should have GM (same ones the dealer would install) gears.

There are other things that can cause gear whine besides the brand of gear though, 1st to mind being the install.

Usually gears whine due to install, not the quality of the gears...

Go with Strange or Moser gears, not motive
