Gas tank possibly sugared, what to do?

I'm away on an army tasking, but I left my TA with my mom at her house. Lately, it's been a target for vandalism. The most recent time, my mom said the gas lid was open, and the gas cap was on the ground. This makes me think the gas has been tampered with. The fuel level is right where it was when I left.

What should I do to make sure the gas wasn't sugared? Are there any tests garages can do to make sure it's clean?

Thanks!

If I were you, I wouldn't even turn the key on. You don't want to turn on the fuel pump just incase somebody did mess with the gas. Getting sugar into the engine will not be good so don't run the engine until you find out if anything is wrong with the gas.

To answer you question, I don't know who can test your gas. Start calling the local gas distributors and find out.

Try pumping all of the gas out of the tank. Probably change the fuel filter as well, and get a locking gas cap. Surgar isn't as bad as it's thought to be. It should all be caught in the filter, if it doens't disolve in the gasoline first.

That sucks. If it were me I would drop the tank and empty it just for piece of mind. I wouldn't want any of that gas going anywhere but down the drain. Who knows what they put in there, i wouldn't want to take the chance of it costing me an arm in a leg just because i wasn't cautious enough. Just my opinion.

I would drain the gas myself. maybe remove the fuel filter and run a loop to the fuel pump if you dont what to drop the tank, all though i would be real carefull doing this cause if you run it dry terrible things could result. Like a fried fuel pump.

Whats up with this? Second thread I've seen about sugared gas tank. People obviously have too much time on their hands.

If they did put sugar in the tank, you would most likely see it all over the ground or inside the filler neck in the very least.
Even if they did take the time to remove the most minute granule of sugar so you wouldn't suspect anyting, why would they leave the door open and cap laying on the ground.

If they put anything in there, it's probably not sugar. Water will settle on the bottom, maybe drain a little from the tank, let it sit in a glass for a bit.

Pay the most attention to the posts that debunk the sugar in the tank myth.
