ok so when i fill the tank up full it smells like gas on the inside of my car anyone ever had this problem if so tell me what ya did to fix it

Probably some sort of malfuction with your EVAP system. check that little black box on the passenger side of your intake manifold and make sure there are two vacuum lines connected to it. One line (top one, IIRC) should go to the throttle body. The bottom should be the 3rd line that comes in with your 2 fuel lines. Also, check out our charcoal canister, and make sure 2 lines are conncected to it (remove the access panel in your drivers side rear wheelwell).

 

also, it could be bad O2 sensors causing you to run rich. Does your back bumper have any carbon deposits on it?

 

no i have no carbon build up and i have a v-6 if that helps out a bit i already have this posted in the V-6 section and i was wondering if any of you z28 SS guys new the problem would it be the seal around the fuel pump on top of the gas tank its only when i fill the car up to the top a (FULL Tank)

whats a charcoal canister and how hard is it to replace and where is it loacated anybuddy have any idea how much one might cost????

 

ok you guys say it is a charcoal canister can some one go into deeper into explannig what this means. and could it be anything else this smell only happens when i fill the tank to the top.
