I did say allegedly, and as stated above, if you really top it off, you can get almost a gallon more.

The main point is the gage is very non-linear, and the last 1/4 tank disappears real fast!!

I think this is the way every GM made car on the planet is, not just f-bods. My truck has a perfectly square tank and it does it as well, and the older the vehicle gets, the worse it is. Both truck and 95 TA were pretty even when new, but as time goes on, 1/2 tank now means 1/4 tank....in a few more years it will be Empty when gauge says 1/2 tank

lol man Im with ya! Im averagin 11 or 12 mpg. changed everything so far. plugs, wires, fuel filter, tps, O2 sensors, MAF, pcv, map, fuel pressure is good, no SES, got a MSD blaster coil to put in now, so who knows, maybe I'll get lucky..

Well i filled up my tank today with 14 gallons of gas. It is now extremelly full. The needle is farther than the Full mark. So i guess i had about 2 gallons left and i was right on Empty.

I will continue to log my mileage and will chime in again when it reaches 3/4 tank, 1/2 tank and so on...

So far i got 220 miles on my previous tank which is just about 14-15 mpg. So i guess city driving is just about right even though the statistics for my car say 18mpg city and 26mpg highway.

1996 Z28, M6, 80k miles. Average about 240 miles in town/interstate. Went on a 2 hour interstate trip, sat in traffic for about 2 hours, and drove 2 more hours back and got 300 miles to that tank.

Normal average is 17.9mpg

Nah, just a good tuneup (headers, plugs, wires) really increased my miles per tank by about 50 miles. (21-23mpg). On a pure highway trip, such as when I went to Canada or Florida this summer, I was getting like 31-33mpg.

I get between 18-19 mpg combined city/highway driving it like a Z28 should be. I used to get around 22 until NJ decided to go with oxygenated gas year round which accounts for about 2-4% lower fuel economy and slightly rougher idle.

my car came with the "performance axle". i wonder how that affects fuel economy.

LT196, couldnt you bring your computation out a couple more decimal places?

MInt97, exactly how should a Z28 be driven? not trying to bust your nuts, but 19mpg from 22mpg is more like a 15% penalty. at $2 a gallon thats like a $.30 a gallon penalty for clean air.

As far as I know installing headers is not part of a standard tuneup.

You guys better be careful running you tank to almost empty, you are going to burn up your fuel pump.
