Question Gas Mileage Question

Ok, I filled up my tank with 91 (the best around here) and I have only gotten 240 miles out of my tank. I have only gotten on throttle about 2 times and i normally drive at about 1500 rpms and shift at about 2000rpms. Is this normal gas mileage for my car. I drive in the city, and on backroads daily. And drive about 15 miles a day.

i got a whopping 13mpg last tank. the other times ive been getting 11mpg in mostly local driving, and one stomp.

i have the hypertech chip and 33k miles on the car. I wonder how much the chip affects the mileage.

What are you getting for MPG?? I'd say that's pretty good mileage out of a tank.

Thanks, I was just starting to worry a little bit that my car might have a problem. Guess i might have to get this baby on the highway a few times to see what i get.

Your mileage is fine. I get about 200 miles to the tank while getting on it about 2-3 times per tank. Lately its been about 17mpg all city driving.

Accurately measure your mileage over a few tankfulls by keeping track of how many gallons you use and miles driven.

Assuming you are well above sea level (where in CO?), and only drive 15 miles a day, you spend quite a bit of time during engine warmup where mileage is very poor.

You guys also have oxygenated gas, right? I believe that doesn't help mileage much.

My $.02

Oh no Whitebeast...you're way fine. I'd be happier than a fly on shi* if I had that mileage.

well 240 to a tank doesnt really tell us much...

when u go fill up, take ur 240, then the amount of gallons to fill it up

240
-----
#galons

that is ur gas mileage... some people fill up when there are 4 or 5 gallons left cause it worrys them...

i would run dry before i ever got to 240...
i get about 160 before i fill up and thats usually 12 mpg...

but i think its minutes per gallon now days instead of miles

i think i get about 20 minutes to the gallon

so 11-13 mpg is the norm for local driving, keeping the revs below 2500-3000.

what is the norm for a highway trip?

does the hypertech chip affect gas mileage much? i saw on one of their dyno charts the chip added a whopping 6 hp.

no 11-13 is for an engine that needs a tune up

these cars should get minimum of 16 or so w/ a lead foot

somewhere between 16-18 street and 20-28 freeway

I just did a 800 mile trip last weekend and was able to get 24mpg cruising on the interstates doing about 75-80mph most of the time. Around town it will drop to about 17 or so. The worst I have seen is 13 but I was really driving it hard. For most cars, anything below 15mpg is not normal unless you are one of the idiots that likes to let people hear their loud exhuast and leave it in 2 gear most of the time.

I get 14-15 mpg with my LT4 powered truck! Mostly city driving. Sure beats the 12-13 mpg it got with the TBI stock and has way more power too boot!
