Can anyone tell me what the difference in gas mileage was after going to the Hot cam? I'm getting close to having to do a rebuild and I plan to go with the Hot cam. This is my daily driver (100 miles a day) so I want to keep drivability and gas mileage reasonable. Right now I get 29mpg on the highway, around 22 driving to work and 17 or so in town.

I get around 17 mpg on a mixed driving condition, which would be driving WOT + in city traffic + on highway.

 

I am getting 20 to 22 mpg ( mostly hwy) still think that there is more in it, need to tune it some more ( really rich ) , that includes some wot blast's on the expressway

 

I don't think that the hotcam hurts gas all that much...i was getting around 280 miles out of a tank then did the hotcam kit and ported heads and stayed right around 260 miles a tank....then switched from 3.42's to 4.10's and dropped to about 200 miles a tank.....

 

Well...let me tell ya. For my car I'm getting like 13 mpg with mixed conditions...mosts city drving though. About what I expected.

 

My 96SS HOT cam car has ~400 rwhp and gets 25 mpg on the highway. I get 20 mpg mixed driving. To top it off, I get this mileage with 4.10 gearing. Not too bad for my grocery getter

 

Gassing it around town, approx. 10-12 mpg and 120-150 miles a tank.
On the highway, I'm pretty sure it's at least 20.
Way back in '95 when the motor was stock with just bolt ons I got near 30 mpg on the highway, level road though.

Lets face it, your mileage is going to suffer somewhat. If you drive 100 miles a day, I would look for milder cam.

 

Milder than the hotcam? It's pretty mild to me...
