Ok, i gotta ask, (just scanned all the other posts), but did you redo your mileage calculations to take into account that it is actually a 15.5 gallon tank, if so what did you get for your mileage now??

well actually i did. it got worst. 120/15.5 is like 7.74 miles per gallon. verses the 120/12=10miles per gallon. so knowing it was that much bigger didn't help.

BLinindoll~I am about 95% sure the MAP sensor is only used as a backup if the MAF sensor fails.

i really dont have to worry about that since 93's were not equipped with MAF sensor's.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

Just for sake of information....the MAP sensor is used at least as a secondary reference even when the MAF is working. The Z28 I just bought had a intermitent SES light, and was spark knocking at low RPM and under load. This is only a mildly modded LT1....small cam, catback, CAI. Got a Tech 2 on it, and got two codes. MAP sensor circuit failure and bank 1 02 sensor. Then took it for a drive with a buddy watching the sensors on the readouts in the Tech 2. The MAP sensor was going in and out of working. When it worked there was no knock and ran better. When there is failure it would knock and retard the hell out of the timing. 02 sensor was just a little off, but not by much. So I replaced the two sensors, and got excellent results. I have to admit though, it didn't change gas mileage much, but this is a 90k car.

Yeah, knew it would be worse, but your more than likely not using the entire 15.5 gallons (if you are, then damn!!!). Something else is deff. wrong tho. Mine is a 93 A4 with 144k and i just checked my mileage came out around 15mpg (hwy, stock car) and ive never had anyone ever tell me theres has been too much lower than mine. I fill it at 180 and put in about 12 gallons and its full. I don't think the speed density helps too much, but next time you fill check your mpg close and get an accurate number.

Your engine is a 350. I think some crackhead at GM did that to mess with peoples heads. The 327 means nothing.

You cant really check for fuel milage that way, because I doubt you ran your tank totally dry. You need to fill up reset your milage and go driving. When you get low, go fill up again and use how much fuel you put in and the milage on your trip meter.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

this is how i figured my milage. I fill the tank up until the pump kicked off. then i ran the tank to E. and gas tanks usually has 2-3 gallons in reserve after the E mark.

figure i would take a break on the tune up.
i have started on the spark plugs and wire replacement this morning. only took me one hour to replace the whole driver's side. the passanger side looks a little tougher. i exspect about hour and a half for it.
the plugs i removed were burning clean but were worn. the spark plug wires that were removed was cheap replacements and starting to crack. niether can be good for that car.

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

BLinindoll~ its cool. just made me really confused at first wondering if mine had one.

just got done with replacing the plugs on the passanger side. it was a bit difficult since there is less room. but it only took me about an hour also. i will go back out to do the wires for that side in a minute or so. i'm dreading the task. the hard part looks like not letting the wires touch anything that can burn thru them or cut thru them <belts or pulleys>

just figure i will let you guys know how i was able to get it done so fast so far. the driver's side i done everything from underneath the car. the only thing i removed to access the plugs and wires easier was the plastic boot for the steering.

for the passanger side I removed the starter. to get to the very back plug. for the other 3 i reached down thru the top engine compartment. it hurts if you dont have little arms. i got scratched up pretty good.

my overall opion from the machanic's side of the camaro.>>>
if you dont know what you are doing at all...you are basically>>

i will update later on how it is running. and later on in the week i will update on the gas milage.

yeah, thats about right for the plugs. what takes the time is the wires. mostly routing them, like you said. it will take a while to get it right, but take your time, and dont get stressed. most of all, have fun.... lol

Re: gas milage only 10mpg i want to cry

well....took the car for a test drive. man the was one heck of an improvement.
there was one thing I did not mention before. it as far as i knew didnt coesist with the bad gas milage. i had a lifter knock or i thought it was a lifter knock. the only thing i know is the car is not knocking anymore. THANK YOU GOD
the car accelerates smoother and just plain sounds better. plus i had my dad stang behind the car while i rev. it up. smelling for gas. "before it would just knock you down" NONE was presant.
