Gas milage...
What kind of gas milage do you all get...
I don't understand this, I get at best 16mpg, normally about 10-12mpg... It's not like I have a whole lot done to my car. I mean I just got done reading a post from someone with an XE cam, and they claim 340 to a tank still! I could never get anywhere near 340 from a tank, not if I ran her untill the fuel pump went boom! I'm happy if I get 220 from a tank.
What do you all do to get good gas milage? I don't get on it every chance that I get, just every once and a while... 2 or 3 time a tank, and it's not like when I get on it I run until 150+, just up to the speed limit, every once in a while to about what my trap speed should be, 105. (Sorry, trap speed N/A
)
I change my fuel filter about every 6 months, at the most. Even the day that I did plugs, wires, and fuel filter at the same time, I didn't get much better gas milage at all... I think I got 230 out of the tank.
So what do you all do to get good gas milage?

Well if you do alot of city driving your mileage is going to be pretty ****ty. My car use to get around 240 miles when the gauge would read empty but when the gauge does read empty you still have about 2 gallons left in the tank, dunno if you knew that and thats with a mix of highway and city driving. When I went to Vermont a few months ago is was pretty much all highway and I drove 204 miles and only used about 3/8 of a tank if that. Maybe your injectors need cleaning or you just get on it too much. Also I noticed a good gain in gas mileage with longtube headers believe it or not, around 35-40 extra miles per tank.
hey, I get about 13mpg all city driving. give or take a mpg depending on traffic/how much i get on it. I was getting about 10mpg before I cleaned my MAF and it went up to the 13mpg after, so you can try that. Oh yeah and dont go too much by what people say their mpg is, I've read thru alot of them and some really inflate their #s, posting mpg better than a v6.

i was getting about 12.5 mpg all city when i bought my car used, and since then i've gotten a dynomax exhaust, changed plugs, changed fuel filter, and gotten a cai. now i average in the high 14's all city driving. so either you're not doing too bad or we're just doing terrible on our gas mileage.
I'm lucky to get 200 miles to a tank. I only run it down to the red empty mark. I get on it a little but I'm usually really light footed on the throttle on the street and I havent been to the track in 2 months. I've made it 330 miles all highway on just under 1 1/4 tank of gas.
I wasnt sure how much gas is left after the empty mark on the guage and I dont trust it either. 2 gal is plenty but I dont like to be down that far for long because I've ran out of gas before in my 93 Grand Am on I-96. It sucked.

i watch my gas mileage very closely. i'm getting from 275-290 every tank and the gauge is getting close to the E. the mileage has been figuring up to 20-21mpg but i'm almost stock. the worst i ever got was 246mi on a tank (18mpg) and that was because of bad gas. i think we have decent gas around here, i always run 93 octane and stay away from fuels with additive like soy protien and stuff. on all highway i got 365mi last weekend, which calculated out to 25mpg.
i just recently did plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter and 2 of my 3 o2 sensors so i'd say i'm pretty well tuned. i do seem to have a 1200-1400 rpm miss or hesitation that may be holding me back a little. i'm sure it's affecting my 60' cause i'm only gettin 2.2's now rather than low 2.1's like i was getting. i'm guessing it's my opti but i have no clue.

I usually at best get a combined 15mpg! I have clogged injectors though, at least thats what the dealer told me. Normally i do my own work, but this one just stumped me. Instead of buying craploads of parts, I just hurt my pride and took it into the dealer for diagnoses. -Michael
14.9 mpg the last time I checked... All city driving.
That was after I seafoamed her... and had only 3 brand new Plugs and 5 old bosh 4's
I will check her now that i did clean the MAF and IAT and right after I change the fuel filter (over 2 years old now). I am thinking of adding some injector cleaning before the test too.
I dont feel so bad now that I hear that I am about average.

I get about 18-20 mpg doing mostly 45-60 mph driving in my area. My car is mostly stock, cept for K&N filter and slp 20tl exhaust. I think having the m6 helps me the most in my gas mileage. I do notice that when I do say 25mph and less city drivng, my mileage drops to about 11 or 12...
with complete exhaust and intake i get 220 miles with moderate lead foot city driving. i bought the car in ohio and drove it to california. on the freeway i got 24 to 25 mpg. the weird thing about it was i got better milage at 3000 rpm than at like 2300 rpm. the engine just likes to run in its power band i guess.

I read that engines are more fuel efficient at their intake resonant frequencies... this frequencys happen at max torque output RPMs... or is it the other way around??? Anyway my stock LT1 is at its peak torque somewhere between 3k to 4k RPMS.
Now remember... transfering this RPMs into Max distance traveled is what makes a diff too.... you can't expect to have a huge mile increase while in 1st gear of course.
The key sentence here is "Peak Torque" as opposed to Peak HP.
