Gains from Longtubes on a stock motor
LS1 speed
Ls1 speed in schaumberg they have dyno and install everything they quoted me at 20 from the long tubes so take it as it is. I still have not made up my mind between them and slp headers for my 1994 z then into a gmmg i think wonder how that will sound?

Long tubes will definetly give more of a gain than shorties. Shorties/lts obviously are alot less restrictive! Just look at a stock manifold. I would think 20hp would be a min. Maybe more or maybe less, some cars would gain alot more, some not much. I don't think shorties are much better than the stock ls1s.
for those of you that think shorties aren't much better than the stock manifolds, have you ever actually had the manifolds off and looked at them? The holes on these things are seriously tiny...
I would also like to point out that in the GMHTP bolt on LT1 shootout, the fastest car there was running Edelbrock shorties, which most people consider the worst shorty header out there.
IMO the main reason LT's gain so much over shorties is the fact that lots of people that do LT's go to true duals, and thast where the gains really are. Cramming 2 2 1/2" or 3" pipes into one 3" pipe is a bad design all around, and I don't see much gain happening because of that between LT's and shorties on a mild/single 3" exhaust car. In fact, some people have done before/after tests and not even noticed 5hp between shorties and LT's on anything under about 400RWHP.
