Fuel System Upgrade
Fuel System Upgrade
I'm wanting to upgrade my entire fuel system on my car so when I run the big shot I don't have to worry about fuel. What is everyone using and how much is it?
I could probably just piece something together at Jegs, but if I can buy a kit and to it, I'd much rather do that. The other problem with just taping the fuel rails and running braided hoses back to the tank, is I'm not sure how to increase/decrease/maintain fuel pressure. Is this done by the fuel pump itself or what?
Thanks,
Jason

Just make sure you get a pump capable of the pressures appropriate for fuel injection, not carburation. The fuel pressure regulator manages the pressure by bleeding off excess pressure into the return line.

Click on my "mods" link in the signature, for info on a setup good for 1,000HP including dual Bosch pumps, SX billet filter, all braided lines, modified fuel rails (capacity doubled), Weldon AFPR, and fuel pressure gauge tap directly off the rails.
If you need more details, e-mail me.

Thanks for the responses so far. Did you piece that kit together also Inj?
I'm not 100% of what I am expecting. I know what I want, but I have not gotten anything out of this car that I have wanted to date.(except my 60' times !! much <3) I plan on shooting it with a 300-400 shot of Nitrous and the hope is, once tuned them motor should put out 500rwhp or more 'hopefully'. Pretty much plan on using as much nitrous as I can to put her into the 8's.
The main problem is the car has been plagued with problems. Right now I'm fairly confident the Yank TH400 is sliping a bunch. I was going through the traps at close to 6800 rpms at only 128mph. (3.73's & 28" tires). At 6800 rpms, that should be like 140mph maybe more.
Then with my solid roller set up I'm still getting a miss 'sometimes' above 6500 rpms.
Once I get the fuel system set up and tranny rebuilt, I'm going to go get it dyno tuned, and hopefully figure out the remaining problems.

I'd shoot for something bigger than the dual 205lph Bosch pumps with that kind of HP. Exactly what the system looks like will depend to some extent how you spray the juice. Mine is a dry 300-shot, but I'm not making 500rwHP to start with.... only 500 flywheel.
The fuel setup was pieced together, not a kit. I started with only the one Bosch 205lph pump, that came with my NOS 5176 kit many years ago. Second Street Speed did the fuel system, and they said the Bosch pump is as good as it gets, and put a second one in the tank, in place of the stock pump. The sump in the tank, braided lines, filter, and mods to the fuel rails was all done by Second Street, based on their experience with high HP LT1's, including Baxter's.
