The TPS voltage I did not look at, but when it was idling at 1000rpm, it was at 0% and after about 4 min and the idle went up, it was at 2%

We noticed once when I revved the engine to 3000rpm, the vehicle speed went to 10mph for a sec but never did it again after that.

You are saying you have an erratic TPS voltage (read the voltage, not the throttle position percent), and the speedo blips to 10MPH when the car is standing still. Both those conditions will cause a high idle. Sounds like you may have some loose grounds, and/or some sort of high voltage interference on the VSS wiring.

I have a mechanical vac gauge and it was reading at 20in vac, but the scanner was reading 14-15in

The scanner reads manifold absolute pressure. That is not the same as vacuum. With a scanner, read the barometer, subtract the MAP, and that will equal vacuum. If your mechanical gauge was reading 20"Hg and the MAP sensor was reading 14-15"Hg, something is screwed up. Vacuum + MAP will generally = 30"Hg when you are at sea level, and significantly less as altitude increases. If you had 20 + 15 = 35, your MAP sensor is screwed up, or your altitude was roughly equivalent to being in Death Valley. Before you said your MAP was reading .7V. That is not consistant with the scanner reading 14-15"Hg. The voltage would be much higher.

p0100a MAF FREQ INSUF VARIATION

Check for +12V on the pink wire on the MAF harness connector. Sounds like an intermittent connection.

IAC was at 76cnt

What was the idle speed?

TPS was .59v

Again, may be indicating an intermittent problem, if the TPP was reading 2% at idle. That would correspond to a TPS voltage higher than 1.0V, which will cause a high idle.

MAP was .9v

That corresponds to less than 25kPa, or about 6.5"Hg. There is no way you can get these readings. A stock cam will show about 33kPa and 10"Hg. Your 305 will show a higher MAP than a stock cam.

MAF was 2 g/s after the code

At idle you should see at least 5-6 GPS. 2 GPS indicates a faulty MAF sensor reading.

You really can't get a lot of help from a few spotty scanner readings. You need to put a data logging software on it and collect useful data. Most of your data so far is inconsistant and contradictory.

In the meantime, look through this, so you know what you are looking at:

The scanner is a snap-on, I'll see if he'll let me drive it around with it in the car and see if I can download the scan data.

I noticed after I did the TB cleaning it idled a little better, but still hung. There was a lower cable going to the TB arm and I assumed it was to the Cruise control. That line was so tight it was holding the TB open. I removed it and the idle is about 950-1000 with no hanging.

The second set of readings were while the MAF was freaking out. It ended up being that the connector was missing the weather pack grommet, replaced it and I haven't had this problem return.

The coil has a ground wire that is about the size of a battery cable that goes to the core support. I can run more and try and create a closed grounding loop.

I'm going to see if I can also get under it and weld in an O2 bung into the Y pipe and get my LM1 Wideband hooked up to it for this as well. The stench isn't so bad at idle now, but you can smell unburnt fuel more when you come to a stop. I'm hoping the new plugs clear this up.

Thanks for the help so far. I'll read up on that page and get crackin on this again tomorrow.

It might be a shot in the dark but for NA i run autolite 104's?

I'll pick up 104's in the morning. I didn't get a chance to tackle the plugs yet, got busy cleaning up the garage and the engine was still hot after making a trip for some BK.

So far so good. 150 miles and no codes, idle is still at 950-1000 on the gauge, but never sticks higher like it did before.

I'm going to order a new set of AC delco o2 sensors anyways and swap them when I do the plugs and readjust the valvetrain. The car doesn't smell like raw fuel anymore, but you can definately smell the exhaust when coming to a stop so it still may need a better tune on it.

I stuck my wideband sensor up the tailpipe at idle last night and it was at about 15.1:1, which after going through the cat sounds about right. It just smells like a crap ton of hydrocarbons and I bet I wouldn't pass the sniffer test. I'm going to start with the small things and if need be work up to another tune rather than the one that is on it now. Not sure who did it for the previous owner, but if all else fails I'll most likely go mail order until I get LT's and a better exhaust setup.
