Fuel Pump replacement question
Fuel Pump replacement question
I have just completed hooking up my Walbro intank pump in place of the stock burned out pump. Quick question about the "arm" that the pump is attached to.
It is hinged with a spring attached to it. Why?
My first thought was it would rise and fall with the fuel level, but this wouldn't seem to work, because the spring looks fairly stout. Then, I thought it was so you can manipulate it while inserting the assembly to make it easier to get it in the tank hole, then it would spring back to the lowest position.
I ask because when installing the new pump, the arm and assembly all look good/clean/etc...the tank looks SPOTLESS inside...but the spring DOES NOT seem to push the arm straight when it is outside. I am wondering if the arm could stick in a higher position and hold the pump up out of the fuel causing premature fuel starvation?????
Any thoughts????
