Electric Water Pump Problem....Help ASAP
Electric Water Pump Problem....Help ASAP
I have just about 30 miles on my newly built 383 Stroker and I got it home today noticing I was overheatign and being followed by a trail of coolant...
So I opened the hood to find my electric waterpump fuse was blow....replaced it only to have it blow soon after and the waterpump never turned on...
Replaced the relay, same problem...
whats going on? dead pump? btw, in case anyone asks yes it was running at one time...it has just now stopped.

Re: Electric Water Pump Problem....Help ASAP
through a relay.
12V wire from battery to fuse, to relay.
one wire from ignition wire to relay
one wire from pump to relay
one wire from relay to ground
pump grounded
like I said...it did work for a while.

Re: Electric Water Pump Problem....Help ASAP
ok....well I took it apart and it just so happens that the impellar came unscrewed and seized into the pump housing...
Im pretty unsatisfied with CSR's quality, but it looks like summit is helping me out and sending me a new one. Ive heard sometimes they have binding problems with the housing, but it ran for 30 miles like a top and had no unusual grinding noises or anything...
weird...
this time I will install the pump, run it for a few minutes, take it back out and look for marks on the impellar. I wish CSR would tell me about these "problems" before I buy and install the damn thing...although I dont think this is my problem in this case.

Insane... I have the same problem...
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=387306
It ran great for the first 10-15 minutes and then the fuse blew... replaced the fuse with a 25 amp... blew.... pulled the pump off and it looked like the impeller blades might have been grinding... odd how it wasn't grinding for the first 10 minutes though. I put it back on without coolant, tested it with a new fuse, and it worked well. I poured coolant in and sealed everything up.... turned it on and the fuse blew hehe. When I pulled the pump off the impeller was pretty much about to fall off. I called CSR and they said to send it back and they will fix it. I'm a bit worried about this now that I see I'm not the only one having this problem... I don't want to have to take my pump apart once a day to tighten down the damn impeller...

Re: Electric Water Pump Problem....Help ASAP
I think we got the runts of the litter man...
it seems like this has just happened to us....lets just hope it doesnt happen again.
like Im going to do, I suggest putting it togetehr and running it for a few minuts, taking it apart and seeing if the impellar has any marks on it. maybe they are binding by just a little bit and thats forcing it off...
we'll see soon enough.
