is it normal to be able to hear the fuel pump in while your in the vehicle driving? it sounded like i had an amp wire on top of the battery! stock system in the car(good enough for me!) have kinda loud exhuast on it!

 

The fuel pumps in our cars are usually quiet. Some aftermarket pumps will "whine" even when they are new. Some new vehicles will whine all the time. You can hear my 99 pickup outside the vehicle but not in the cab since it was new. Ford Crown Vics whined so bad, you almost had to yell to talk in the back seat.

BUT, when the quiet pumps get noisy, that's usually a sign that it needs to be replaced. And don't buy aftermarket from a cheap auto parts store no matter what they say the warranty is. So what if the pump you spent 5 or more hours to put in has a lifetime warranty, if 6 months later you have to do it all over again.
