fuel pressure problems - Aeromotive

I've got an areomotive A1000 on my '93 and have been getting some wierd readings on my fuel pressure guage. Ever since I got the car the when the system is primed the pressure jumped to around 42 and dropped right to zero. The car would start right up and the pressure would fluctuate real fast from 35-45. Lately the pressure guage has gotten real slow. The pressure only goes between 25 and 35 and it cycles alot slower than before. Under load it climbs back to a steady 45. I know most pumps should hold pressure when primed and they dont fluctuate real fast. Is there something different with ther aeromotive? and why do you think my pressure is getting lazy? Its a mechanical guage. Any help would be great. I'm going to check my filter right now. The pump sounds fine still. I think I'm going to put on my AFPR also. Nathan

Re: fuel pressure problems - Aeromotive

Our pumps do not incorporate a checkvalve in the outlet. Because of this when the system primes if you do not start the engine when the pump stops there is nothing there to hold pressure in the system and it falls back to zero. A ckeckvalve is available that screws into the outlet port that will hold pressure on that end if you are using a stock regulator.
How is the system plumbed? Are you using an inlet filter and if so what filter is it? The pump could be going away due to wear. They are rebuildable and we are happy to test it for you at no charge.
