is the recall on the 94 non-metallic fuel hoses still active? i googled it and searched pretty thoroughly with no success. mine melted on the a.i.r. connector on the manifold. i wasnt aware of them being plastic until i had to cut them. thanks

 

To my knowledge, there never was a recall on the LT1 plastic fuel lines. If your lines melted on the AIR piping, its because the plastic clamp that held the fuel line bundle to the side of the throttle body cover was missing, or broken. I remember back in the late 90's, someone had an engine fire when the clip broke and the lines dropped down on the AIR piping, melted one of the fuel lines and set the car on fire. He tried to drum up support for a class action suit against GM, but never did it.

 

im not sure how mine ended up touching anywhere but it did somehow. but i found this recall on a camaro site so i googled 94 recalls and found different sites saying the same thing.. im not even surehow long you have to take any vehicle back to the dealer for recalls. but check it out see what you think

First time I've heard of it, and I've owned my 94 since new. Never received any recall notice. What do you want them to do? Does your car have the clip on the side of the throttle linkage cover intact? Is the hose bundle routed through it?

The replacement lines are about $20. Shoebox has the part # on his website.

 

car does not have a clip on the linkage cover, never has. maybe that is what they meant by misrouted. maybe they were supposed to have it and some didnt. anyway i bought the replacement lines, i work at advance, but its only a repair kit i had to cut out the damaged section and splice in a section of the line with brass couplers. i dont want to trust them. i would feel a lot better if the entire lines were re-ran completely

 

The GM OEM replacement lines, from the hard lines under the driver's side rocker panel, to the hard lines at the fuel rails are shown on Shoebox's website. They are FULL REPLACEMENT lines, not a repair kit:

Not sure when he updated the price last, so it might have gone up a bit.

Replace the clip that hold the lines to the side of the throttle linkage cover, or you are going to risk burning the engine up. If you dont have a clip, use a black nylon tie, pushing it through the hole in the side of the cover, around the fuel line bundle, then then back into the cover to connect it together. The "knot" formed by the connector will be large enough to not pull through the hole, if you us a large enough tie.

Sure coulda used that the other day when mine burnt through. Just left the chevy dealer a minute ago after learning they ordered the REAR lines. The rears are $180 Retail. Thank god the fronts are cheaper....Retail in $22.00 now from a GM/Chevy dealership.

The part number is still good by the way, because as of ten minutes ago they had to re-look it up. The parts diagram shows it as #19....and it includes all the little connectors and bolts and cover that goes into the wheel well and also the bottom cover that goes by the frame rail.

 

so yours were only 22.00? the local dealer here says 106.xx..

well i called down to the dealer and gave them the part #. turns out they were ordering the wrong part and the right part # gave me a $28 part. thanks shoebox and injuneer

 

The part they were ordering you was the rear lines that go right to the tank almost. The picture in the GM Parts database is very misleading. The one you needed is number #19 in the exploded diagram in the database and it looks like its only pointing to the wrap that goes around them, thats why its very common for them to order the other end of the line.

That's what happened to me! Now I have to wait till Tuesday to get my car going again!!! Damn I hate living in a small texas town, you have to add another day to every kind of shipping, even overnight!!!!

But the $80+ savings is very nice though!!

 

So how was the installation of this part? I am going to do mine Tuesday evening so I was wondering what all you've run into.

Do you need to remove the left front tire and remove the wheel well liner? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! The Service Manual makes stuff look too easy!
