Slide the tool in, hold it in there tight. Push in on the fuel line, then pull out. If you don't push in first you can tug on it all day and it won't move.

Push the disconnect tool in until it bottoms out (make sure you're using the right side/size). Then push HARD until you hear it pop. It might take some effort but once it pops you should be able to pull it off no problem.

The fuel lines are both the same size - you have two different lines?

The feed line is 3/8", return is 5/16".

I just removed and replaced my fuel lines about three months ago. Yep, the lines are a bear to get off(at least the 3/8 feed line was). I picked up my plastic disconnect tools from AutoZone. Struggled with the 3/8 feed line for a day and a half(well, it seemed that long!!!). I first thought I didn't have the right tools. Started with the 3/8 feed line because it's in front of the 5/16 return line and looked like it was eaiser to get to. Finally gave up on the 3/8 feed line and started on the 5/16 return line. It came right off with hardly any effort. Went back to the feed line and gave it a good hard tug and it finally came off. You just need to be persistent---It'll come off for you. Just know it'll be easier to get back on.

the feed line is hard if its pressurized

so relieve the pressure at the schraeder valve first.
