fuel injector part

hey gentlemen. I have yet another question. On my fuel injectors, (pulled for the first time ever) i noticed on top of the rubber washers there were white plastic things. Most broke or fell off. My question is, are these needed, or will the rubber o rings themselves do the trick???

The "rubber washers" are O-rings. The bottom O-ring is held in position by a plastic ring above it. Is the white plastic ring in this photo what you are saying is broken?

You maybe right, I wasn't even looking at that stuff, don't even remember how I stumbled on it but remembered this post. Glad to help.
