Fuel injector opinions
Fuel injector opinions
Hey guys finally got my plugs finished Thursday night... you know the drill. My hands are AFU from wrenching them in, car runs great now no miss... purrs like a Tiger. Im sticking with the AC Delco Platinums instead of the Iridiums for now. Found two plugs wet... nos. 5&7. Leaking I assume. So with 90k on the clock I am going to replace them all. I have been having some high RPM backfiring issues through the manifold so this will be the begining of my fuel system repair.( No vac. leaks that I have found ) Next to check will be the fuel pressure. Right now I have installed Lingenfelter CAI, ported Granatelli, mild Crower cam with a little more lift, shortys and flowmaster exaust. Otherwise stock, once I do this I will get a tune. I have seen some injectors @ 34 lb or even lower as the stock ones I think are. Some are higher, which are most likley more than I need. Please share with me your thoughts, is stock going to be sufficient or should I go with a little bigger? What brand ? And I am thinking this should be a fairly easy gig, considering how hard the plugs were! Some words of wisdom on the repair process too.. would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
Re: Fuel injector opinions
put ur stock maf back on
and use stock injectors. when u get into ported heads is when u start needing bigger injectors, some of the really large cams on stock heads like bigger ones too but most o the time people dont run cams that big without headwork

Re: Fuel injector opinions
At this point, you don't need anything larger than the stock injectors.
You need to add a "Signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and list the major mods. In this case, we will assume you have 24#/HR injectors, because that covers 94-97 LT1's. But if you have a 93, they are smaller.
34 #/HR injectors will support close to 500 flywheel HP.

Re: Fuel injector opinions
Data log your car during some run time and send it to a tuner of your choice, they could tell you if you need larger injectors or other mods or fixes you need to make. Your injectors are fine for now.
I am a little confused on whether you have done the mods or are going to do them.
Backfiring, for me, was an opti that needed replacing. Replaced it and no more probs.

Mods are done.... except for tune. Using a hypertech for now. As for the backfiring I am leaning (pun intended) to a lean misfire condition. The car runs great partial throttle, idle, startup.. even putting the foot in it a bit. WOT is a different story. It is hitting on the cylinders, just popping sometimes under the hood.. Somehow I dont think I am getting the fuel the engine needs at WOT.
