Fuel injector/gas mileage

This is a hypothetical question: If someone were to swap their stock fuel injectors with 36# or 42# would their car's gas mileage decrease if no other mods or program changes were made?

lol, if you swaped your 24 lb injectors for 36 or 42lb ones i doubt the car would even run, you don't even need 36lb injectors untill you are runing over 500hp at least. If you change the injectors you need to reprogram the computer so it can shorten the injector pulses.

Re: Fuel injector/gas mileage

I'm pretty sure I have decided to go with the LE3 heads and the LE2 cam. I plan on having 400+RWHP when it's all installed. Lloyd recommends getting 36 or 42lb injectors for his LE2 and LE3 packages. I also plan on adding a 100 shot down the road. The injectors will go in at the same time as the heads and cam.

As long as the car is tuned to know that it has 36# or 42# injectors, and you check the fuel pressure is at ~ 43.5psi (with the car on and the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator diconnected), then you should have very similar gas mileage on a stock engine. It will never hurt going with a larger injector as long as you tune for it correctly.

Thanks. That's what I was wanting to hear.
