Fuel injector cleaner: Yes or No?
Fuel injector cleaner: Yes or No?
I did a search about this and not much came up. Which do you guys recommend? I also read about additives in the cleaners that could cause problems?
Some cleaners do nothing, some cleaners can actually cause damage. The only in-tank cleaner that I might trust would be something like Redline's SR1, although I really don't think it's going to be all that effective. The easiest effective method is to purchase the GM cleaner that is pumped directly into the fuel rail. The best method is to have the injectors removed, inspected, cleaned, and flowed.
These types of injectors are good at self cleaning and aren't really affected by deposits. What can cause problems is particles within the injectors themselves which are unlikely to be simply flushed out.

I have heard of them working, however they may gum up the exhaust valve with stuff from the fuel system.

Only if the car isn't running correctly would I recommend any fuel injector cleaner. But the best one is Chevron's techron cleaner.(Costco).If you still have problems, then, you may have other issues.My02(did that stp thing, what a joke).Hope this helps.
