What kind of mpg would an LT1 Camaro tuned to run lean (14.7:1) and cammed to nearly no overlap get? I'm exploring the possibility of turbocharging an engine in this condition for both power and efficiency. My goal is 100MPH at 30mpg.
Stock closed loop tuning is 14.7:1. That's not "lean".... that's stoichiometric, and was chosen primarily to minimize emissions. A leaner A/F ratio (15-16:1) would produce better MPG at the expense of higher NOx emissions.
With your mild cam, just look at the stock window sticker. It would be helpful to know what trans and real axle ratio you are running, since that affect fuel mileage and performance.
Your goal is what..... to be able to achieve 30mpg while holding a steady 100MPH??? ..... to be able to run 100MPH in the 1/8th-mile, while getting 30mpg during normal driving???

1. I'm sure I sound retarded now. I didn't quite think when I said 14.7, because that would imply that all the fuel is burnt, when it isn't. 16:1, as mentioned, is much more logical.
2. I meant 30mpg cruising at 100MPH with the stock transmission (manual 6 speed) and rear end.
