front main seal question

is there any type of squeeze in gasket or gasket maker i can use to seal the front main seal? or do i definitely need to drop the pan and put in a regular gasket? i figure i need the real thing but was wondering if i can temporarily seal it up with something else,

There is no "front main seal."

If you're talking about the front of the oil pan gasket, you will need to loosen the pan bolts, separate the pan from the timing cover, clean the surfaces thoroughly with brake clean and apply a light film of silicone sealer on the gasket, and retighten the pan bolts. I usually put pan gaskets on dry except for the four corners and they seal exceptionally well.

If you're talking about the seal in the front cover where the hub goes through, there is no "quick fix." You'll need to pull the balancer and hub and replace the seal in the cover.

Good luck

There was a thread recently where a guy used some new spray sealant. It was a little gooky looking, but might work for you as a temporary fix.
