I have an electric water pump on my 96 LT1 and I need to know what size freeze plug I can use to plug the whole with. I know some of you have done this....please let me know asap.

i used some jb weld and a quarter.

 

A 50 cent fits perfect/ JB weld and your good to go.

yea i could do that but feel alot more comfortable with a freeze plug to fit the hole..anyone?

 

take it to the auto parts store you'll be able too test fit it while its still in the plastic
its either 1 1/16" or 1 1/8" i cant remember off hand

I just got done doing the same thing about a half an hour ago. lol works fine for me.

 

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there quite a bit of size difference in a quarter and a 50 cent piece? Someone must be using a lot of JB weld.

If I am not mistaken, it is a 32 mm. Go to napa, and they can hook you up. that is where I got mine when I did my electric water pump and double roller. It has been a while back, but I am fairly sure it was a 32mm. they are only like a dollar a piece, so it may not hurt to pick up a 30 and 34 just to be sure.

 

also, you can just hammer it in, but I did put a little jb weld around mine just to make sure it never leaks

 

I drilled it out and pressed fitted a 1-1/2" freeze plug then JB welded to seal.

 

JB Weld and a quarter. Been holding for almost 2 years now. Woohoo!

 

ill look for the freeze plug...but if not guess ill just have to go with the quarter and some JB weld since its working for alot of you guys. Thanks!
