Oops, sorry. Yeah, interact.

Before you click start on Freescan, you must turn the key to ON and wait about 10 seconds. Thought you already knew that. I must have read this stuff somewhere.

It isn't that difficult, but there are several default selections you have to change to get it to work.

Select the proper COM port (Usually this is COM1).
Select "Interact" as the operational mode.
Select "GM 1994 Camaro..." or the appropriate vehicle under Vehicle Make and Comments.
Hit "Start" under "Communications with ECU".
If the Bytes Sent & Bytes Received counters don't start incrementing automatically, hit the force data button until they start to count.

You can do this with the car on or off, & the cable connected. Doesn't really matter. The key must be in the ON position though, running or not.

Selecting "Interact" gets a lot of people. If you don't set it to interact, it won't request any data from the PCM, even though the laptop and PCM are actually talking. Consequently FreeScan won't show you any data.

Usually "Force Data" isn't necessary. If you don't get communications immediately after following the steps above, hit the force data button a few times...this basically "kick starts" the communications. Once the "Bytes Sent" & "Bytes Received" counters start incrementing automatically, everything should be good. Click over to the data screen & you should see the data you want.

I also had some problems getting it to work at first. I finally re-downloaded and reinstalled the program. After that it decided to work correctly. You might give that a try.
