Free Shift Kit Mod,yea Thats Right Free...

well theirs the old put the resistor in the computer but now there is a new way ,inless people already know about this(oh well i tried to help)
you have to drop the trans pan(good time to change filter)
then you look up and you see the valve body.. and the little silver box that tell the trans when to shift , and next to that u see the acculator thingy.. ok.. where the wires plug into that little silver box, if u pull them out you will see a torque bit nut. (the only one you will see) turn this torque bit(i think a t-25) about 1/8-1/4 turn and your done, you can turn it more if your crazy and want to shift really hard but 1/8-1/4 and you wont break stuff..put everything back together and your done.

maybe someone knows more about this and can explain it better. i justed watch my friend do it on my car.. it works great

dont yell at me if you turn it to much and break stuff i im not responsible for what you do, talk to your trans guy first if you want. later

Probably the adjustment on the pressure control solenoid (force motor as it is sometimes called). That is really no different than using a ShiftPlus, but you can't turn it off. Probably not a real good thing to do to your tranny. Excess pressure all the time is going to cause problems.

The pressure is modulated by the pcm though, so it is not high all the time.

that's nowhere near a free mod, you're going to need a rebuild sooner then later because of it. Too much line pressure is not good for a tranny.

This same mod can be done to all 4L60E transmissions, A guy on the S-Series truck boards thought he was really smart by doing this.

In a way he was because now he has a 2 year waranty on his new transmission.....

LOL!

PredatorZ28:

Don't you just hate it when people rag on your post?

Please don't take anything personal. The line pressure can be a delicate thing and I (apparently, we) didn't want anyone to go out and mess up their tranny without knowing the risk.

i personally know of a person that had his 4l60e rebuilt by a guy who only rebuilts 4l60es and nothing else and he is a hydralics professor. (the tranny thing is in his spare time). but he built one for a guy in oklahoma city who runs consistant low tens and has a trailor hitch on it and pulls his bass boat with his 96 ta. and has been going strong for 3 years now. and a wot he runs 350 lbs of line pressure and has never had a problem. my buddy runs a 360 lbs of line pressure at wot and 265 at idle. and has never had one lick of trouble in a year and a half.

any tranny shop that knows this guy says he is a guiness when it come to trannys. and i talked to his last boss to owner of the tranny shop that he worked and he told me he hated to se him go and he was also glad to see him go. he said he liked him because he could fix any trannyy that came in the shop, but he didnt like him because his trannys never came back.

now i do know there can be to much pressure and tear things up. when you start messing with pressures in a tranny. you better know what your doing.

Nothing wrong with a delicate tweak, but you know how people tend to go overkill. That is what ends up trashing a tranny. Now people know more than what they did. That is why this board is here. You did help. Nothing to be sorry about.

A tiny tweak will help, but to much will damage a completly stock transmission.

Yeah thats why i only went 1/8 turn(clockwise) i didnt turn it like three times(duh) and good thing i dont have car payments,, it sure is fun going sideways in 3rd.... you guys act like i turned up the pressure 100psi or something.. no just a tad. Also anything you do to your trans isnt good for , shift kit, stall, whatever, i think a stall is more of a killer than a little bump of line pressure. oh well i just thought a few people would want to shift a little harder for free.

if you have a good working transmission, a shift kit will actually help the transmission last longer. Plus if you read about the shift kit, at least the trans-go, if fixes a few minor problems in the stock transmission.
