"free mods"??
"free mods"??
Ok, I've got my intake removed to fix an oil leak, thats done. I found the oil sending unit about to fall off. I also had a lifter going bad, ive got a set soaking in oil and almost ready to put back on. My question is, what "free mods" can be done while ive got the intake off, and sitting on the bench. Also, can I expect to feel any difference or is it just something people do to help with other major mods. Thanks.
Re: "free mods"??
Throttle body bypass is the only emissions legal one i can think of
A.I.R./cat converter/rear o2 sensors(OBD2 only) delete - throws codes on OBD2 in rear o2s arent tuned out
not worth horsepower just cleans up engine bay:
EGR delete - will set off a code unless tuned out
A/C delete - not sure on codes
manual fan switch

Re: "free mods"??
Yeah I did a TB Bypass. On most free mods you won't be able to feel a big difference, but every mod helps right?
There are a few sites you can hit.. one of my favorites is:
WS6.COM
For most (if not all) of his mods, he includes a dyno chart as well as a conclusion.
I'm currently working on installing my March Under Drive Crank Pulley. As you'll note, he didn't get 20hp out of it, but an ok difference for the small amount of work (or so it has been for me and I'm only 17 . So I assume it'd be easier for more experienced hands).
You can also hit:
Chevy | Camaro | Firebird Reviews, Performance Parts, Modifications - LS1Tech.com or
Corvette C7 - C1 Reviews, Performance, Parts For Sale - CorvetteForum.com and go under C4 tech/performance or parts for sale.
I don't know if you're familiar with corvettes, but they changed to LT's early 90's around the same year the 4th gen Camaro debuted. Those are the other sites I periodically check for info or parts.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
