Found a cut wire near tranny HELP!

I finally got my Z28 back on to the road today and had trouble shifting.. (A4)... came back, jacked it up and there are 2 wires hanging from the back of the tranny..... one purple, one yellow... i need to know where they are suppose to attach so i can hook them back up, looks like they got cut or came loose, but they are now only attached by the tailhousing of the tranny and look like they should run up towards the engine.... any help in finding the correct location would be great... thanks guys

Chris

The VSS has yellow and purple wires. Can't you just find the other end and splice them back together? They go to the PCM .

The diagrams I have seen look like they show the wiring coming down the RH side and part of it crossing over the top of the tranny before it gets to the tailshaft.

A wire from my VSS once got pulled in two and my speedometer quite working and my A4 shifted from 1st to 3rd (had to rev high and it shifted hard) and not into overdrive. Reconnecting the wire (I think it was yellow but don't really remember) obviously solved the problem. The wire ran on top of the tranny and I reached it with my car up on a lift, from the passanger side, and I somehow managed to squeeze my skinny a$$ arm between the tranny and the floorboard, unclip a conduit of wires from 2 clips (i think it was 2) and pull them down (on the passenger side) to work on.

Good luck
